A Late St. Patrick's Day

Posted by yoshi2560 at 10:10 PM Labels: Gold, Green, OPI, Orly, Revlon, Song of the Day
Here's what I wore on St. Patty's Day. But not to worry. It's only months late. No big deal.

The base green is OPI Mermaid's Tears. I painted the clovers with Revlon Posh, and the accent finger is my FAVORITE gold of all time: Orly Glitz and Glamour. Seriously my favorite color ever. Perfect for my little pot o' gold!

China Glaze Mosaic Madness Over Hologram

Posted by yoshi2560 at 8:10 AM Labels: Blue, China Glaze, Glitter, Holo, Silver, Song of the Day
First of all, look at what happened!

Oh my gosh I was so upset. I mean look at that! So that resulted in me chopping my nails down to stumps. But I had to go to convention for my fraternity, so here is what I was wearing. This is right after the Glitz Bitz N Pieces (?) Collection came out so I was still pretty obsessed with them. And the fraternity colors are white and blue, so I just had to incorporate those!

Hologram is a silver holo that takes about 3 coats for full opacity and you can only see the holo in direct sunlight. But that's okay, it's still pretty. And Mosaic Madness is a blue an black multi-sized glitter. There's some bar glitter in there too, which really makes this glitter.

Wet N Wild On A Trip With China Glaze Bling It On

Posted by yoshi2560 at 9:54 PM Labels: Black, China Glaze, Glitter, purple, Song of the Day, wet n' wild
Here's China Glaze Bling It On (the Glitz Bitz 'N Pieces Collection is one of my new favorites) over Wet N Wild On A Trip (a gorgeous dusty purple creme).

China Glaze For Audrey

Posted by yoshi2560 at 9:18 PM Labels: Blue, China Glaze, Glitter, mint, OPI, Song of the Day
This is China Glaze For Audrey (a classic) with OPI Gone Gonzo over it on the ring finger. I've never been a real fan of the accent finger but I actually really liked this one, probably because it was so subtle. It's 2 coats of For Audrey and two coats of Gone Gonzo.

Teal and Brown Foil Glitter Gradient

Posted by yoshi2560 at 8:26 PM Labels: Brown, China Glaze, Foil, Glitter, Gradient, Green, Revlon, Song of the Day, Teal
Man, I really suck at this whole "blogging on a regular basis" thing. But there's been a lot going on and I just haven't been able to keep up! But I've still been taking pictures every time I did something new, so I'm just playing catch-up with myself right now.

This is one I did months ago. It was Revlon Spice It Up, then with two different foils (from dollarnailart.com): the Teal and the Emerald colors. Then I topped off the tips with some classic China Glaze Fairy Dust.

Black, Red, and White Hearts

Posted by yoshi2560 at 9:24 PM Labels: Black, Orly, red, Revlon, Sinful Colors, Song of the Day, wet n' wild, white
I originally did this mani for Valentine's Day and man I wish I didn't. It was cute and everything, but I could have done something so much more festive. Anyways. Here it is. I used Orly Dayglow as my white base, then Wet N Wild I Red A Good Book and Revlon Black Lingerie for the hearts. Then I covered everything with Sinful Colors Opal Glitter.

Not really what I had in mind at the time, but still worth sharing.

Zoya Aurora

Posted by yoshi2560 at 12:59 PM Labels: Holo, purple, Song of the Day, Swatch, Zoya
I got three polishes for free from Zoya's "Try 3 Free" deal at the new year. So I got Aurora, Ki, and Valerie for $10 shipping and handling! Whoa!!

These 3 are my first Zoya polishes, as I never thought I needed them. I am shocked I never invested earlier! They definitely did not disappoint! When I opened the polishes I was surprised at the brush, I thought it was really small in comparison to the others I've seen. But it spreads beautifully and I had no problems with it at all!

Here's Aurora. None of these pictures adequately show the awesome holo in this purple polish, but still. It's awesome. This purple holo is almost a dark fuschia, and it definitely looks like it has a pink undertone in it but it is definitely purple. The formula was great, and if I had been more careful I could have gone with 2 coats, but I was still a little streaky so I did 3. I can't believe how gorgeous this color is!

Pink and Purple Water Marble

Posted by yoshi2560 at 2:31 PM Labels: Love and Beauty, Pink, purple, red, Song of the Day, water marble, wet n' wild
This is actually what I wore for the weekend before Valentine's Day, it was my "Pre-Valentine's" manicure.

I used Orly Dayglow as my undies, then Love and Beauty Baby Pink, Wet N Wild I Red A Good Book, and Wet N Wild On A Trip. Swirled em all up, and put em on my nails! I got a ton of compliments on them but truth is, this was way too pink for my taste.

Zoya Ki

Posted by yoshi2560 at 5:30 PM Labels: Duochrome, Green, purple, Song of the Day, Swatch, Zoya
Yeah yeah yeah I've been gone for a while. I have had such a crazy semester already, and I haven't had the time or the will to post anything, although I've still been taking pictures! I've gone to a bunch of places and seen SO much basketball, so I figured I may as well post while I'm watching some March Madness. Go Buffs!

This is Zoya Ki. It's 3 coats (I could have gotten away with 2) and a great formula and dry time. It's a shimmer that goes from a light purple to a golden-green duochrome. It's very pretty, and much more obvious in real life!

China Glaze Sky High-Top!

Posted by yoshi2560 at 10:47 PM Labels: Blue, China Glaze, grey, review, Rimmel, Song of the Day, Stripes, Swatch
I got this one for Christmas and I am now head over heels for it (which is punny because this was originally from the Summer 2009 Kicks collection). It was seriously almost a one-coater, althought i used two coats for these pictures.....then I knocked my hand into the couch and dented my middle finger :( but check this color out!

Color Club Wing Fling and Magenta Foil

Posted by yoshi2560 at 10:27 PM Labels: Color Club, Foil, Magenta, Pink, review, Song of the Day, Swatch, Zoya
Oh man. Has it only been 4 days back to school? I'm already exhausted. I have a new sunrise shift at work, and it really kicked my butt today. I decided to play with nail foils again a few days ago! They're too fun not to. However, I learned some new things from this experience! I'll share that after I post all the pictures and things.

I layered my Magenta foil over my new Color Club Wing Fling. I could have matched the shade more accurately but I definitely just wanted to play with my new polishes! This was 2 coats. The formula was great and I don't know if it was just me but the brush in this one was awesome and super easy to control and spread.  I'm only slightly bothered by the VNL, and maybe I'll try it again with another coat to see if that does anything. Since I was planning on putting foil over it, I wasn't terribly upset.

Keep reading for the full review and the awesome Magenta Foil!

Color Club Metamorphosis

Posted by yoshi2560 at 11:09 PM Labels: Black, Color Club, Duochrome, French tips, review, Revlon, Song of the Day, Swatch, Teal
First week of classes is almost half over! Since it's only the first week and I'm taking less classes than usual (even though they're hard classes) I feel like I have so much time. But just because I have time doesn't mean I have had the motivation to post anything. So here I am watching Face Off (the only show I watch religiously because it's AWESOME) and working on this post during commercials. The last polish I wore was beautiful but it kind of paled in comparison since I so recently did a teal metallic foil that was BEAUTIFUL. But I just got the Color Club Take Wing Collection and this is the polish I was most looking forward to. I even had an occasion to wear it! This is Color Club Metamorphosis:

Silver Starburst foil

Posted by yoshi2560 at 7:29 AM Labels: Foil, Holo, Revlon, Silver, Song of the Day, stars
Alright, I'm still addicted to these nail foils I just got so here's another one that I wore to a couple of the women's basketball games. I wore it over Revlon Silver Screen because I couldn't get my bottle of OPI DS Radiance. And of course I got it opened after I finished the manicure. But that's okay it still worked out pretty well! Silver Starburst is a metallic silver with holographic stars. It's kind of awesome.

In other news...

Posted by yoshi2560 at 11:47 AM Labels: Song of the Day
While I was watching the men's basketball team play against Arizona the other night I decided it would be fun to pull out all of my manicure stuff and reorganize it all! Yay.

Yay organization!

Teal Foil (Picture Heavy)

Posted by yoshi2560 at 8:40 PM Labels: Foil, Song of the Day, Teal
So I just got the nail foils I ordered from dollarnailart.com and I love the ones that I got! The website has a $25 minimum (but I heard through the grapevine that if you have a printed order form you can get however many you want) and each foil is $1 (hence the name). They also give you a free bottle of nail glue for every 6 foils you get. And each foil strip is 5 feet long, which means that you get a freaking lot of foil.

Now I did my research before I invested, and there are a few major problems with nail foils.
  1. The wear is terrible, and they only last for a very short amount of time
  2. It's really difficult to find a top coat that works, because any top coat that you use will crease and crinkle the foil, which makes it lose it's finish :(
Even with these issues in mind, I decided I may as well go for it, they are so stunning I can deal.

So here's the first foil I decided to play with :
This picture was taken after I put topcoat on, and you can tell after you see what it looked like before.
Okay now check this out, I did the foil over Sally Hansen The Real Teal, which you can see here. The base color is really important for later, when the foil starts to wear off.
Are you freaking kidding me? Look at that mirror-like finish! That is insanity.

Keep reading! You seriously won't regret this one:
