So this post is 1/3 a swatch, 1/3 my cheetah nails, and 1/3 a tutorial on them (relatively) which means it's a really long post, so bear with me and read on after the jump!
The base color that I used was Orly Gumdrop, which is a mint creme with more of a blue base to it. It's such a pretty spring time color, and I'm so upset that summer is coming to an end that I decided to just go for it. It only took 2 thinner coats to get full opacity, and it could definitely even be done in a single thicker coat. By the time I was outside, the sun was quickly disappearing behind our lovely mountains, so I only have some shots in low-light, but the color is pretty accurate. It's one of those colors that you see in the store and say "Oh, I already have like 6 of those" and then you get it home and realize you actually don't have any that are similar, because of the blue tinge instead of a more green one. The pictures below show 3 different angles and 3 different shades coming from the same polish! I think the first picture is what it looks like most of the time, but the other shades definitely show up.
Pro's:
- Unique color (blue base)
- Great coverage (2 coats)
- Formula like a dream
- ...................................
Okay so now onto the cheetah print. I started with my Gumdrop base and then made little irregular polka dots with OPI's Don't Mess with OPI. This is what it looks like. Pretty ugly on it's own, right? Haha
Then I took my black nail art pen that I bought from my best friend Ebay, and lined the polka dots in irregular C shapes. I personally never fully ring my dots, but some people do.
Now those cheetah prints look so lonely! Let's add some more stuff. I just make little marks and curvies all around the blank spots to fill in the color.
And then you're done! And this is what you're left with:
Looooove it!
Song of the Day: Life is A Highway by Rascal Flatts (So I have an intense aversion to country music, but I'm listening to my Disney/Pixar playlist on Spotify and this just came on and I couldn't turn it off)
