Go Buffs Fall 2012 Version 3.0

Posted by yoshi2560 at 9:48 PM Labels: Black, Claire's, Glitter, Gradient, Revlon, Silver, Song of the Day
Buffs....won? I mean we all root for them and cheer and scream until our voices give out, but we never actually expect them to win, so this was a crazy surprise. But yay! Buffs won! These are the nails I did for this past gameday weekend.

I started with a layer of one of my favorite black cremes, Revlon's Black Lingerie.  Then I put on a coat of Claire's Galaxy, which is a black base with silver microglitter (it looks just like the night sky, how cool!), then I have a franken of a clear base with a bunch of silver glitter in it, and a created a gradient from the bottom.  I added a tiny bit more of Galaxy along the line of the glitter so it looks a little bit more blended. This is what it looks like:

China Glaze with Gradient Tips

Posted by yoshi2560 at 7:16 PM Labels: Black, China Glaze, Duochrome, Glitter, Holo, Sally Hansen, Silver, Song of the Day, Teal
We all know I love me some gradients.  It is seriously my go-to mani if don't have the time/patience for anything else.  I put on China Glaze Deviantly Daring (from this year's Bohemian Collection) and I wanted to do a swatch on it but I had some bubbling and I knew it was my fault so I didn't want to put it on it's own post.  So of course I grabbed some glitter and made a gradient on it.  I grabbed Sally Hansen's Twinkle Twinkle because it has silver AND black microglitter as well as holo hexagonal glitters.  You can't see the glitter in the pictures as well as I would like, but it really is very pretty.  Very simple, but pretty.

 More pics after the break!

Go Buffs Fall 2012 Version 2.0

Posted by yoshi2560 at 8:43 PM Labels: Gold, OPI, Song of the Day
Okay so this one is rather boring, I had a really busy week and not a lot of time to do my nails :( which was really sad.  So this is all I have, it's OPI Glitzerland.  Go Buffs!

Mint cheetah nails!

Posted by yoshi2560 at 11:05 PM Labels: Black, Blue, cheetah, Green, mint, OPI, Orly, review, Song of the Day, Swatch
So I was so excited about my nails that I just did, then I got on blogspot and was looking through my feed and saw that Sweet Sugar already did the same kind of thing to her nails today! It's really funny how polish-aholics think alike!

So this post is 1/3 a swatch, 1/3 my cheetah nails, and 1/3 a tutorial on them (relatively) which means it's a really long post, so bear with me and read on after the jump!

Go Buffs Fall 2012 Version 1.0

Posted by yoshi2560 at 2:50 PM Labels: Black, Gold, OPI, Orly, Silver, Song of the Day, Tape
Since I'm in the marching band, we have this huge deal with opposing team colors worn on game day.  We also have an intense aversion to the color red (which is sad since that's my favorite color) on game days, which means that since I can't wear any other colors, I'm always wearing black, gold, and silver on the weekends. Ever since last year I've done "Game Day Nails" and I'm definitely continuing that this year.  For the first game this year this is what I wore:

I applied Orly Glitz and Glamour on half of my nail, then OPI DS Radiance on the other half.  When they were completely dry, I applied some thinly cut pieces of Scotch tape and then a coat of OPI Black Onyx over that. I know the lines aren't 100% straight, but I think there is a certain charm to these.  They were also really easy, which I really appreciate. I got so many compliments on them, Buff fans definitely loved them! Go Buffs!
